Health facilities: influenza vaccinations SB 1318

SUMMARY :  Requires hospitals and clinics, after July 1, 2013, to
          require all employees, contractors, students, volunteers,
          persons with privileges on the medical staff, and all other
          onsite health care workers affiliated with the clinic to either
          annually receive an influenza vaccination or, as an alternative
          to the annual influenza vaccination, wear a surgical or
          procedural mask, or other mask that covers the mouth and nose
          area of the face while this person is performing his or her
          duties in any patient care area of the clinic during the
          influenza season, as defined by the State Health Officer (SHO)

Thank you to Linda and Huntington Hospital for hosting the presentation by: Tom Salas from Breathesafe “A Practical Approach to Respiratory Protection” the evening was enjoyed by all.  We look forward to seeing everyone at or last function of the year “How to Kick Start your Business Continuity Program”  May 16, 2012 at 6:00 PM at El Torito in Burbank.

 

Over the next two months the Board of Directors will be meeting to plan and investigate new and exciting way to bring or member’s cutting edge topics and programs. Watch for updates during the summer.

First and foremost, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and Passover. Always remember to take the time to be with family and friends life is to short not to. I again want to thank everyone who was involved in the planning of the 2012 Annual Awards and Dinner. Plus a huge thanks to everyone who brought a raffle item. It was an outstanding event.

 

Time is moving too fast. So take some time for yourself and some great networking and join us for the April 18th meeting Presented by: Tom Salas from Breathesafe “A Practical Approach to Respiratory Protection” at Huntington Hospital.

TB 101 for Health Care Workers

TB 101 for Health Care Workers is a Web-based course designed to educate health care workers about basic concepts related to TB prevention and control in the United States. The target audience for the course includes newly hired TB program staff and health care workers in areas related to TB (such as individuals who work in correctional facilities or HIV/AIDS clinics).

Presidents message

First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who was involved in the planning of the 2012 Annual Awards and Dinner and a huge thanks to everyone who brought a raffle item. I was blown away by the items we had to raffle this year.

 

The evening was a blast. We had great networking, fantastic awards, a wonderful dinner and one outstanding presentation. A huge thank you goes out to Officer Veronica Burris with the Pasadena Police Department for her presentation on work place violence.
