There are a couple of bills that we may want to watch: (if you know of others please let us know so we can post them)
- AB1055 Alcohol Drug Counselors – would require if passed for Drug and Alcohol Counselors to hold a masters degree in D&A Counseling and creates a new licensing authority
- AB1166 Naloxone Liability – if approved would release any non-licensed person from liability to provide either perceived or real emergency naloxone (Narcan) administration (nasal spray)
- AB1651 – Would approve school employees (not just school nurses) to aide in administration of emergency epinephrine (Epi-Pen)
The CA BRN has posted the application for NP103. If you are a Nurse Practitioner, do this as soon as possible. We must start over and practice for 3 years under physician supervision before being allowed to practice without supervision. So application for NP 104 will not be available until 2026.
